Victorian Full Brassbound Rosewood Writing Slope.
A splendid Victorian full brassbound rosewood writing slope dating back to c.1840. The box is a wonderful size for a writing slope, it features brass bindings to the corners, brass handles to the sides and decorative brass top and key escutcheons, It has a fully working lock and tasselled key with full brass bindings.
The box houses two sections for inkwells with two inkwells ,a nib slope, pen slope with compartment underneath and a red leather writing surface. There is a compartment to the back of the inside lid to store paperwork with it’s original letter rack and three secret drawers underneath the writing surface which are located by lifting the inkwell /nib slope divider.
A decorative writing slope and a wonderful piece of rosewood
It measures 40 x 25 and stands 16 cm high.
