William IV Rosewood Lap Desk.
A superb example of a classic style William IV Rosewood Lap desk dating back to c.1830. The box features a decorative inlaid mother of pearl design with initials to the centre and a mother of pearl key escutcheon surrounding a working lock and tasselled key.
The box houses a red releathered writing surface with two nib slopes, two inkwell sections and two lidded pen compartments. The box has a section underneath the writing surface for paperwork or love letters.
The box measures 36 x 26 and stands 10cm high.
