French Victorian Brass Inlaid Rosewood Ink Box.
A stunning little Unusual c.1850 rosewood box, that would have started life as a perfume bottle box, but has since been transformed into a perfect little ink box.
The box features wonderful brass inlaid pattens and borders to the front and top of the box and a brass name plate to the top.
It has a perfectly working lock and tasselled key.
the box house a chunky brass hinge, two exquisite silver hallmarked inks “London 1896” (one has a tiny chip to the front but otherwise in very good condition) and its original red interior to the back of the box, the rest has been relined with handcrafted marble paper.
It measures 15.5 x 9 and stands 9cm high.
