Victorian Burr Walnut Games Box.
A spectacular burr walnut games box dating back to c.1850, edged in ebony with a mother of pear and marble malachite with a fan card design to the top.
The box houses a bone back gammon and chess set, the doors open out to reveal more white and red chess pieces, there is a ivory chess board with a bone set of dominos underneath with various dice and crib pegs to the top, take the tray out to see more games such as counters, cards, bezique , puzzles, the game of spelicans. Unfortunately the board is missing which is reflected in the price but it shouldn’t be to difficult to find one.
The inside lining of the box is in mahogany.
The box features a working lock and tasselled key.
It measures 33 x 22 and stands 19cm high.
