Sheraton Flame Mahogany Knife Box.
A remarkable 18th century flame mahogany knife box dating back to c.1790, The top of the shaped lid has been crossbanded in tulipwood and edged in boxwood and ebony.
The wood is in absolutely superb condition. It features a working lock and tasselled key, chunky brass hinges to the back and a silver plated escutcheon to the front.
The box houses an inlaid compass star and herring bone inlay to the inside, with a fitted interior to store knives.
The box measures 23 x 29 and stands 35 cm high.
