Victorian Tunbridge ware box.
This outstanding example of a Tunbridge ware box has a scene of battle abbey gatehouse in sycamore to the top of the lid, it dates back to c.1870. The box has a pin cushioned top, the box had Walnut inlay with Burr cedar panels around the front and sides of the box.The box has a funky working lack and tasseled key with a mother of peal escutcheon. The interior has been partially relined with handcrafted marble paper, the back of the lid has its original red velvet.
It measures 26.5 by 20.5 and stands 11 cm high.
