Regency penwork paintbox.
A beautiful usual penwork paintbox in wonderful condition that dates back to c.1820. The penwork is a wonderful flower design with a oval panel of a castle to the centre of the the box.
Open the box to reveal a Mahogany interior, a makers label of ‘Chapmans’ to the back of the boxes lid , a tray of water colour kegs many of which are different makers such as Newmans,a thimble, nibs, an alabaster mixing tray, a glass bottle, a bone rule. We are trying to add a glass mixing bowl that the box is missing.
open the front drawer with a pin that locks and opens it to reveal a porcelain pallet ,Chinese water colour kegs and several tools. The box has it’s original lock and key. It works but it’s quite temperamental.
The box measures 30 by 22 and stands 9.5 cm high.
