William IV Mother of Pearl Inlaid Fitted Sewing box.
A magnificent example of a William IV Rosewood Sewing Box dating back to c.1830. The box has a working lock and key, with a beautiful inlaid mother of pearl decorative floral pattern to the top and front of the box. The box houses its original red interior and a fully fitted sewing interior from button holes to mother of pearl sewing reels (one is slightly later), winders, pen knifes, pin cushions, tape a waxer and various other sewing implements, the tray has several other compartments and a silk interior to the underneath of the tray for more sewing accessories. The box also has a compartment for sewing patterns to the back of the inside lid. A truly wonderful piece of history in superb condition.
The box measures 30.3 x 21.5 and stands 12 cm high.
