This is a beautiful early French perfumery, c.1790. The box measures: 13.5cm by 13.5cm and stands 12.5cm in height. The box is crossbanded tulipwood, walnut and harewood on the top: the box is boxwood inlaid and tulipwood edged, with a lovely tumbling block design. The main base wood is angle cut tulipwood. It's a quartered tulipwood on the sides and the back and the front. The box has the original hinges and has a working lock and key. The box has the original silk interior with the original four bottles, silver topped but one of the bottles has lost its silver stopper as the chain has broken, there would have been a little dish and a cup to the centre but unfortunately it is missing; but it is still a very nice unusual box.
